The new steamship Prince George of Canadian National Steamships arrived June 14 on her maiden voyage. The ship, the second Canadian National steamer to bear that name, was the largest ship ever built on the Canadian west coast and had accommodations for 294 first class and 28 second class passengers, with a crew of 132.  (The Prince George was a regular visitor to Juneau for the summer tour seasons until 1975, when it was sold and taken out of service.  In 1981, it returned to Juneau for the tour season under a different operator, but was cited twice that season for creating excessive black smoke.)
