More than one third of the gold produced in Alaska during the year 1925 came from the Alaska Juneau Gold Mine.

Juneau Lumber Mills added a box factory in the spring to its sawmill operations to provide salmon can shipping boxes for local and southeast Alaska canneries, producing the shooks (disassembled box parts) for 450,000 salmon boxes that season.

In January the Juneau City Council purchased its first combination grader and snow plow. Bureau of Public Roads completed the newest section of Glacier Highway out to Eagle River by November. The new section was 8.26 miles long and cost approximately $175,000.

The Governor’s office moved in January from the old Presbyterian Mission building on Fifth Street, which was recently damaged by fire, to five rooms leased in the Goldstein office building.

Area baseball fans must have been excited to hear in September that local boy James “Bambino Jimmy” McCloskey, pitcher on the Alaska Juneau baseball team in the City League this season, was to report to the Milwaukee Brewers in the American Association for spring training at Palm Beach, Florida,
