The Amalga Post Office was established at the mining camp up Eagle River valley, three years after gold was discovered there. It closed in 1926.

Atlin, BC, raised funds and appointed an engineer to investigate the feasibility of creating a road to Juneau, long advocated by Juneau businessmen.

In January a whale picked up an electric cable being laid from Juneau to Douglas, but released it when power was turned on.

The Juneau Packing Company plant was built to process herring, salmon, and halibut.
