1968 – The Alaska State Centennial Museum building was dedicated today, although it is not yet opened to the public as the historical collections have yet to be transferred and set up in the new quarters.  The building was built as the major Alaska Centennial project for Juneau and was funded by a special dedicated sales tax approved by Juneau area voters. At the dedication, the building was officially turned over to the State of Alaska to house, preserve, and exhibit state historical artifacts. Juneau Alaska Empire – 01/03, 08/1968
