1917 – Joe Christovich, known among the miners at Treadwell and Perseverance as “Big Joe”, has purchased a 7-passenger Buick touring car and will place it on the Juneau-Perseverance jitney run in the early spring.              Gastineau Bygones – 05/18/1979

1964 – Last night the Greater Juneau Borough assembly approved several ordinances setting out the formalities of the new borough government including its name, boundaries, date of incorporation, officer titles, and some of its functions. Daily Alaska Empire – 01/31/1964

1967 – Juneau’s first Go-Go girl, blonde Rene Richards from the Lower 48, opened her act at the Imperial last Saturday and the bar has been literally packed since with curious patrons from all levels of society to view the new routine.  Proprietor Robert Schroth said he plans to add another girl soon. One city official said the only complaint he’s heard came from someone who had not seen Rene’s performance. Juneau Alaska Empire – 01/30, 31/1967
